Some of the Samsung Galaxy Note 8 suffered the so-called “bricked phone” phenomenon where the model does not work even though it is recharged after its battery became dead.

According to the smartphone industry on December 28, there were some reports recently in the United States that when the Galaxy Note 8 was not turned on although the phone was recharged once its battery was completely discharged. Local consumers’ cases on the official US website of Samsung say that this phenomenon happened to the smartphone in both wired and wireless charging systems.

"My wife's Galaxy Note 8 was turned off. Since then, we have been unable to turn it on," said a customer for the first time early last month. "I tried various methods such as software reset but the smartphone did not work." Since then, about 20 opinions about similar phenomena had been steadily received until that day.

The exact cause has not yet been found but smartphone manufacturers say that the phenomenon may be sparked off by a problem or problems in charging devices rather than in smartphones or batteries. This is because this phenomenon occurred to products for some US mobile carriers (Verizon and T-Mobile) only and the number of reported cases is extremely small. First, Samsung Electronics is looking into such cases while replacing problematic devices with brand-new ones.

"It is still unclear whether the problem was triggered by hardware or software," said foreign media outlets such as Sam Mobile and Phone Arena. “It is good to leave the product on. If it is not turned on, you should ask Samsung to replace it with a new one."  

"In Korea, we have not found any such cases yet," Samsung Electronics said. “We are doing everything we can do to discover the cause.”
