BBQ Offering 30,000 Tickets to the Public Through a Promotional Campaign
Chicken franchise Genesis BBQ is sponsoring a Seoul match between world-renowned football club FC Barcelona and FC Seoul to celebrate its 30th anniversary. FC Barcelona is scheduled to play against FC Seoul at Seoul World Cup Stadium on July 31. This marks FC Barcelona’s first visit to Korea in 15 years since 2010.
At a press conference held at Lotte Hotel in Sogong-dong, Seoul on June 10, Yoon Hong-geun, chairman of Genesis BBQ Group, explained the event’s background, saying, “On our 30th anniversary, we wanted to give back to the 50 million citizens. We thought inviting the world’s top football club, Barcelona, for a Seoul match would be a way to share a great emotional experience.”
He emphasized, “The sight of 36-year-old veteran Robert Lewandowski and 17-year-old prodigy Lamine Yamal playing on the same team, bridging generations and cultures, aligns with BBQ’s vision of growth and value sharing. This event is BBQ’s leap and starting point towards the next 30, even 100 years.”
BBQ plans to provide 30,000 tickets for the 2025 FC Barcelona Asia Tour Seoul Match to the general public and customers through the Golden Ticket Festa promotion on their own BBQ app. The event will run for a total of 45 days from June 11 to July 25.
Existing BBQ app users will be given one entry opportunity. New customers who download and register on the BBQ app will also get one entry chance. Additional entry opportunities are given to customers who recommend friends who sign up. Furthermore, for every chicken purchased on the BBQ app, one entry ticket is automatically given.
A BBQ official explained, “This event was planned for BBQ and its customers to share the excitement of global sports through FC Barcelona, visiting Korea after 15 years. As it’s a special opportunity for our citizens to watch FC Barcelona’s game directly in Korea, we are making thorough preparations, including server expansion.”
The FC Barcelona Asia Tour Korea match is hosted by D-Drive. D-Drive, which exclusively contracted the entire FC Barcelona Asia Tour for the first time in Korea, is in the final stages of the approval process with the Korea Football Association for a successful match.
Yoon stated, “As a pioneer of K-chicken and K-food, we will widely promote BBQ’s status domestically and internationally, and clearly demonstrate the aspect of a global franchise company dreaming of the next 100 years.”
