Recall Includes Hyundai, Kia and Foreign Brands

The Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport has told automakers to recall 222,138 cars divided into 14 models.

Those include 185,523 Santa Fes and Max Cruzes sold by Hyundai Motor Co., in which a hydraulic electronic control unit short circuit may cause a fire. Those also include 125 Hyundai Avante Ns, in which a poorly attached steering wheel emblem may cause an injury when the steering wheel airbag inflates.

A total of 24,990 units of the Kia All New Sorento and All New Carnival have a gear lever lock defect and gears can be shifted even without stepping on the brake. The recall also includes 7,845 units of the Mercedes-Benz E 300 e 4MATIC and GLC, which have transmission wires vulnerable to damage by their power transmission shafts.

Insufficient fuel pump durability and the resultant possibility of fuel leakage and engine stall have been reported in the case of 1,963 Jeep Cherokees. In addition, 311 Ford Broncos have a rear door lock assembly problem and 179 Lincoln Aviators have a headrest that may cause an injury in the event of a collision. The recall also includes 1,202 vehicles sold by GM Korea, including the Cadillac Escalade, which have a poorly assembled third-row safety belt buckle.
