Dasan Networks is to begin the home production of communications equipment in the aerospace and defense industry. On April 2, the company announced that it received the first AS9100 certification from British Standards Institution (BSI), the global quality management system certification authority, in the domestic communications equipment industry.
The AS9100 is the aerospace standard for quality management systems that meet the requirements of safety, credibility, and special prerequisites in the global aerospace sector by the International Aerospace Quality Group (IAQG).
With the acquisition of the certification, Dasan Networks established a foundation to deal with communications equipment with aerospace and defense industry-related enterprises in the world.
Dasan Networks CEO Nam Min-woo said, “Even though South Korea has advanced communications technology, the country is relaying on foreign technologies and products in the aerospace and defense industry. Obtaining the certification, Dasan Networks will take the lead in the localization of communications equipment, in not only the aerospace and defense industry at home and abroad, but also various industries, including automobiles, ships, and trains.”
