Ceasefire

Samsung Electronics, Samsung Display, LG Electronics, and LG Display issued a joint statement on March 31 saying that they have agreed to end ongoing legal disputes.

Accordingly, a total of five ongoing cases about three issues between the two groups will come to an end.

Among them, the most recognized case is that three executives of LG Electronics, including its H&A Division President Jo Seong-jin, were indicted by Seoul prosecutors after Samsung Electronics filed a suit about President Cho deliberately damaging Samsung Crystal Blue Door washing machines at a retail store before the IFA in Germany last September.

In response, LG Electronics filed a counter-charge against Samsung.

Samsung Display and LG Display sued each other in two pending cases for technology leaks of organic light-emitting diode (OLED) display panels. There is also another case in which Samsung Electronics indicted LG Electronics on a charge of stealing its business plans submitted for the High Energy Efficiency System Air Conditioner Development Project.

Samsung and LG said, “Both sides have agreed to avoid legal action and resolve any future conflicts or disputes through dialogue and mutual agreement.”
