CJ CheilJedang will invest US$210 million to expand its amino acid plant in Brazil.

CJ CheilJedang announced on Aug. 1 that it would invest US$210 million to expand its amino acid plant in Brazil.

Completed in August 2004, the plant produces lysine, an amino acid for livestock feed (feed additive).

The company is expanding the plant to produce high value-added amino acid items other than lysine.

CJ CheilJedang’s biotech business sales in the first quarter of this year reached 1,082.8 billion won, up 39.3 percent from the previous year, and its operating profit soared by 128 percent to 175.8 billion won.
