Samsung Electronics vice chairman Lee Jae-yong returned from his business trip to Europe on June 18. The company held a presidential meeting on June 20 and will have a global strategy meeting on June 21.

Lee visited Hungary, Germany, the Netherlands, Belgium and France during the 11-day trip to seek future business opportunities in the industries including semiconductor and EV battery.

The presidential meeting was held for more than eight hours. It was attended by Samsung Electronics vice chairman Han Jong-hee, president Kyung Kye-hyun, Samsung SDI president Choi Yoon-ho, Samsung SDS president Hwang Seong-woo, Samsung Display president Choi Joo-seon, Samsung Electro-Mechanics president Jang Deok-hyun, etc. They examined risk factors related to inflation, supply chain and demand and discussed the direction of future R&D.

According to some industry sources, the meetings immediately following the vice chairman’s return imply that Samsung Group may put itself into a state of emergency to be better prepared for the future based on innovation and R&D.
