Meeting with Vietnamese President Truong Tan Sang, Lotte Group Chairman Shin Dong-bin talked about its business in Vietnam and discussed cooperation plans to expand investment.
Shin said to President Truong Tan Sang at the presidential palace in Hanoi on March 6, “With the FTA concluded between Korea and Vietnam last year, exchange between the nations will expand further. I ask for your interest in and support of Lotte’s local businesses, including the Smart City construction project in Ho Chi Minh City.”
Lotte is currently pushing ahead with the development of an Eco Smart City in the new urban area of Thu Thiem in Ho Chi Minh City. The development is expected to feature department stores, shopping malls, cinemas, hotels, serviced residences, and office buildings.
In September last year, the company opened “Lotte Center Hanoi,” a landmark skyscraper in Hanoi with 70 floors, including 5 basements.
Starting with the founding of Lotte Vietnam in 1996, the Lotte Group is conducting local businesses in many different fields, including food, distribution, services, and construction.
Lotteria opened its first store in Ho Chi Minh City in 1998, and is currently running 209 stores across the nation, including in Ho Chi Minh City, Hanoi, and Danang.
Lotte Confectionery took over Bibica, the number two confectionery company in Vietnam, in 2007. It also completed a Choco Pie manufacturing plant in Ho Chi Minh in 2010, and is strengthening the production and marketing strategies.
Lotte Mart is currently operating 10 stores in Vietnam, while Lotte Home Shopping has entered the market after it established a joint venture TV home shopping network called LOTTE Datviet. Lotte Hotel is also running Lotte Legend Hotel Saigon and Lotte Hotel Hanoi.
