As Part of 'Responsib’ALL Day' CSR Program

Employees of Pernod Ricard Korea take part in environmental protection activities such as tree planting and river purification to celebrate Responsib’ALL Day, a CSR program of Pernod Ricard.

Pernod Ricard Korea, the Korean unit of the global wine and spirits company Pernod Ricard, announced on June 16 that it had celebrated the group’s Responsib’ALL Day in Seoul and other major cities by taking part in environmental protection activities such as tree planting and river purification.

Responsib’ALL Day, celebrating its 10th anniversary this year, is one day in the year over 18,500 employees of Pernod Ricard dedicate to the group’s Sustainability & Responsibility 2030 Roadmap and to having a real impact in the local community by conducting corporate social responsibility activities. This year the focus is on helping to protect and restore nature and biodiversity, in line with Pernod Ricard’s commitment to nurturing terroirs.

To commemorate Responsib’ALL Day in Korea, about 140 employees of Pernod Ricard Korea volunteered in Seoul, Daejeon, Busan, and other major cities. A group of about 100 employees planted 1,200 shrubs at Ichon Han River Park together with the Environment Action Association in an effort to reduce fine dust and the urban heat island effect in the city and to create green spaces for the conservation of biodiversity.

In addition, employees working in the Seoul, Yeongnam, and Central branches gathered in Daejeon and Busan to perform river purification activities and help conserve the aquatic ecosystem. They threw  effective microorganism (EM) balls containing natural microbial organisms into Hwasan Stream in Yuseong-gu in Daegu and Oncheon Stream in Guemjeong-gu in Busan, and went ‘plogging,’ or picking up trash while running, to clean up the rivers, streams, and ecosystems in the surrounding areas.

In May, Pernod Ricard Korea signed an MOU with the Environment Action Association and donated 10 million won to support environment protection. The donation will be used to promote environmental protection and conservation of biodiversity.

CEO Frantz Hotton of Pernod Ricard Korea commented, “Pernod Ricard Group has celebrated Responsib’ALL Day over the last 10 years by performing highly effective S&R activities in conjunction with local communities. Protecting the environment is essential if companies and local communities hope to achieve sustainable development. Pernod Ricard Korea will continue to serve as a responsible member of society, including by taking part in environmental protection activities.”

Meanwhile, Pernod Ricard Group’s Responsib’ALL Day is a global effort conducted around the world in line with its 2030 Sustainability and Responsibility roadmap known as 'Good Times from a Good Place.’ Pernod Ricard Group is working to embed sustainability and responsible management at all stages of production from 'grain to glass’. On the grain side, since the raw materials for its products come from nature, the company is endeavoring to protect biodiversity and developing sustainable and regenerative agriculture practices in its terroirs. And throughout its value chain, Pernod Ricard is working to reduce carbon emissions, water consumption and waste. On the glass side, the company have a role to play in combatting the harmful use of alcohol through responsible drinking campaigns. The company has also developed a free online/offline course ‘Bar World of Tomorrow’ to train bartenders and bar owners on sustainable bartending and how to serve products responsibly.
