Medical Money

In a bid to supply medicines in the southern hemisphere in 2015, Green Cross won the contract to supply flu vaccines worth US$2.9 million (3.2 billion won) from the Pan American Health Organization (PAHO), under WHO, which is one of the world's largest demand sources of vaccines.

The scale of the deal is up more than 25 percent from flu vaccine exports to the southern hemisphere last year worth US$23 million (25.25 billion won).

Green Cross is also planning to participate in the PAHO bid to supply flu vaccines to the northern hemisphere, which will open soon. The annual amount of flu vaccine exports last year amounted to US$40 million (43.91 billion won), which was the highest figure on record.

Beginning in 2010 when the company first exported flu vaccines, Green Cross is showing rapid growth in winning contracts through bidding on international organization contracts. Also, it is renewing the highest record in terms of the amount of exports every year. This year, the amount of vaccine exports will approach 40 percent compared with the previous year.

Meanwhile, Green Cross exported more than US$200 million (219.56 billion won) last year, a new record for a Korean medicine supplier.
