Volunteer Activities

Korean Reinsurance Company (Korean Re) visited Haiyan again, a typhoon-stricken region in the Philippines, and participated in damage recovery work for local residents, just as they did last year.

Nineteen members of the Korean Re volunteer group (17 Korean Re new employees and 2 Habitat managers) visited the northern part of Cebu in the Philippines called Daanbantayan region from Feb. 6 to 8.

The Korean Re volunteer group delivered a relief goods package last year, which could make temporary shelters for residents. This year they participated in building houses where residents can live permanently. The volunteer group built six houses and laid bricks. It also delivered donations for successive works.

Furthermore, the group performed a cultural performance for the local residents and gave stationery to children. All of the new employees of Korean Re participated in the Korean Re overseas volunteer program this year as last year.

Related with the meaning of the volunteer group dispatch, President of Korean Re Won Jong-gyu said, “I hope all the employees, including new employees, realize with pride that the reinsurance industry is not just earning money, but managing risks and helping people facing hardships.”
