Jumping into Robot Service Market

A small AI quarantine robot model unveiled by KT

KT has released two types of AI quarantine robots in a bid to expand its presence in the rapidly growing robot service market.

The company introduced the two robots, one in small size and the other in large size, through an online meeting held on March 30. They both offer ultraviolet C (UVC) sterilization and air purification functions. In particular, by applying an eco-friendly plasma method instead of a disinfectant that is harmful to the human body, they can carry out quarantine activities even in the presence of people in a narrow space.

They also include an AI robot function. Their camera sensor-based autonomous driving and automatic charging functions enable self-quarantine activities at all times. Moreover, KT plans to provide preemptive customer care services such as remote monitoring and the dispatch of repair service personnel by using 24-hour intelligent control based on KT’s nationwide network.

KT plans to focus on expanding its robot platform service starting with the launch of the AI quarantine robots. It plans to provide omni-directional services from robot installation, platform use, remote control, store consulting, quick after-sales service (AS) for repair and maintenance, exclusive insurance and store network establishment.

The global service robot market is expected to reach US$122 billion in 2024 according to Strategy Analytics (SA), a global market research firm. The International Federation of Robotics forecast that the service robot market will grow at an average annual rate of 23 percent or more.
