Korea Water Resources Corp. holds a ceremony to mark the opening of the Southeast Asian Cooperation Headquarters in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, on March 17. 

Korea Water Resources Corp. opened the Southeast Asian Cooperation Headquarters in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, on March 17.

The state-run corporation established the Southeast Asian Cooperation Headquarters to discover new business opportunities in Southeast Asia, strengthen support for Korean water business companies’ expansion into overseas markets, and build a control tower for projects currently underway.

Currently, the corporation is carrying out 23 projects in 10 countries, including the Karian Waterworks Project in Indonesia and the Angat Hydroelectric Power Generation Project in the Philippines.

On hand at the opening ceremony were about 60 officials from the corporation, the Korean embassy in Malaysia and the Malaysian government, including Lee Jong-jin, head of the corporation’s global business division and Joo Jung-cheol, consul general of the Korean embassy in Malaysia.
