In the East Sea 65 km away from Ulsan City

Officials of Korea Southern Power Co. and Shell pose for a photo after signing an MOU on a floating offshore wind project in the East Sea.

Korea Southern Power Co. announced on March 15 that it has signed a business agreement with Shell, a global energy giant, to develop a floating offshore wind power generation complex in the East Sea 65 kilometers away from Ulsan City.

The offshore wind power complex will have a power generation capacity of 1.3 gigawatts (GW), which is enough to supply electricity to one million households at the same time.

Floating offshore wind power generators can be installed even in deep sea, so they can invite few complaints from local residents and be built on a large scale.

Korea Southern Power expects the floating offshore wind farm to contribute to revitalizing the local economy by creating jobs in the shipbuilding and marine industries.
