The engine was identified as the most frequent consumer complaint about domestic vehicles, and noise about imported vehicles, respectively, by car owners in Korea.

According to automotive research company Marketing Insight on Jan. 30, a study conducted on problems targeting 23,491 consumers who bought new cars in 3 years showed that domestic car buyers complained the most frequently about weak engine power (6.6 percent) in their cars, and imported car buyers about the loud friction sound made when breaking.

A loud windy sound when driving (6.3 percent) and a smell when turning on the heater or air conditioner (4.1 percent) followed for domestic vehicles, while a loud windy sound when driving (4.2 percent) and navigation breakdowns or malfunctions (4.1 percent) followed for imported cars.

Among the top 10 problems, four problems of domestic vehicles were related to the engine, while six problems of imported vehicles were related to noise.

An official from Marketing Insight said, “We are going to provide collected data that explains the problems, cases, and symptoms in detail for consumers to properly understand and fix the problems of vehicles.”
