To Prepare for International Patent Disputes

Hyundai Mobis plans to expand intellectual property rights registrations overseas this year.

Hyundai Mobis plans to register intellectual property rights (IPR) for a total of 3,300 items at home and abroad in 202w, with nearly half of them to be registered in foreign countries.

The company announced on Feb. 10 that it will expand IPR registrations overseas to take an advantageous position in international patent disputes.

Hyundai Mobis held an award ceremony for outstanding inventions at the Mabuk Research Institute in Gyeonggi Province on Feb. 9, with the attendance of company president Cho Sung-hwan and other executives.

The company gave prizes to researchers who applied for outstanding global patents in 2021. A total of 200 million won in prize money was paid to about 50 researchers and their teams and departments. The Advanced Cockpit Research Cell was selected as the best invention unit. The cell studies Hyundai Mobis’ future purpose-built vehicle (PBV) mobility.

The winners were chosen among those in all major key product divisions of Hyundai Mobis in the fields of all intellectual property technologies. They zeroed in on self-driving vehicle control, fuel cell systems, slim headlamps, electronic braking systems, and advanced airbags.
