In the first business strategy meeting after he took office, Woori Bank CEO Lee Kwang-goo declared a “24/365 Innovation Project” with 3 missions of successful privatization, financial industry innovation, and global market expansion. He said, “Let’s make our bank a strong bank that innovates itself strongly for consumers and country.”

He also asked to become the leader in the financial industry through technology financing and fintech, and to improve its profitability and its soundness with the protection of financial consumers through the innovation of banking practices, expansion of critical consumers, and high-quality assets.

Lee compared the performance indicators with its competitors and said, “We need to become No. 1 in the future even in the area that our market share is not currently on top.” He referred to a Swedish bank, Handelsbanken, and an American bank, Wells Fargo, which provide excellent customer service and management as examples. He urged its employees to have a sense of ownership and work more actively.
