YouTube Premium annual subscription plan

YouTube launched annual subscription plans for YouTube Premium and YouTube Music Premium users on Jan. 19. The prices are US$107.99 and US$89.99, respectively. For reference, the monthly subscription fees are US$12 and US$10, respectively.

The plans were launched in the United States, Canada, Mexico, Brazil, Russia, Turkey, Germany, Thailand, India and Japan.

In South Korea, YouTube Premium costs 10,450 won a month for web and Android users and 14,000 won for iOS users. The prices are relatively lower than those in the United States and Japan. Some point out that it is not understood why the annual subscription plans are yet to become available in South Korea, which is one of the countries where YouTube is most popular.

YouTube is already one of the most popular apps in South Korea. According to Mobile Index, its daily active user count amounted to 24,857,842 last month, when its market share as a video streaming platform was as high as 93 percent.
