Unveil Many Mini LED TV Models at CES 2022

TCL compares mini LED and OLED TVs at CES 2022.

Chinese TV manufacturers unveiled a large number of high-end TV products at CES 2022. For example, TCL exhibited seven new mini LED TV models, including X9 925 Pro 8K with an 85-inch screen and a thickness of 10 mm and Ultra Slim 8K with a thickness of 3.9 mm. The prototypes were exhibited without drivers and the release dates are yet to be decided.

Hisense unveiled mini ULED TVs, including 85-inch 8K and 4K, 75-inch 8K, and 65-inch 4K. In addition, it unveiled a 120-inch built-in edge blending display and a rotating TV.

In the third quarter of last year, TCL and Hisense accounted for 8.6 percent and 8 percent of the global TV market, respectively. In that period, the market shares of Samsung Electronics and LG Electronics were 27.8 percent and 18.4 percent, respectively. At present, the Chinese TV manufacturers are concentrating on high-end products by imitating the South Korean companies’ products, as the high-spec and large-screen segment is increasingly leading the growth of the entire market.

According to market research firm DSCC, the global premium TV market shipments increased 67 percent last year and LG Electronics’ current share in the OLED TV market, where the average selling price is highest, is over 60 percent. Samsung Electronics, which is maintaining an overwhelming share in the premium LCD TV market, is about to enter the OLED TV market.
