Tesla Korea Faces Sanctions

The Korea Fair Trade Commission (KFTC) will impose sanctions on Tesla Korea for violating the e-Commerce Consumer Protection Act.

The Korea Fair Trade Commission (KFTC) recently sent a report to Tesla Korea, claiming that it violated the e-Commerce Consumer Protection Act.

According to the KFTC, a South Korean customer can order a Tesla vehicle on the official website of Tesla Korea by paying a fee of 100,000 won, Tesla Korea does not return the fee in the event of order cancellation, and this constitutes a limitation of consumer rights.

Earlier, a local civic group reported to the commission that Tesla violated the Fair Labeling and Advertising Act by mentioning autopilot and fully autonomous driving in its ads with its vehicles not supporting fully autonomous driving.

The KFTC is planning to make decisions on whether and how to discipline the company after hearing its explanations.
