A Contract Worth KRW1.6tn

DL E&C has won a chemical plant construction project in the Ust-Luga region of Russia.

DL E&C has won a chemical plant construction project in Russia. The Korean contractor will be in charge of designing and procuring equipment for a polymer factory in the Ust-Luga region, about 110 km southwest of St. Petersburg. The contract value is 1.6 trillion won.

The project involves building the world's largest single production complex that can produce three million tons of polyethylene, butane (120,000 tons), and hexene (50,000 tons) annually.

Ust-Luga is one of Russia's major port cities in the Gulf of Finland. Large-scale investments are currently underway in the region. In the future, Ust-Luga will be home to Russia's largest gas-chemical complex, which will be able to process 45 billion cubic meters of natural gas annually to produce LNG and chemicals.

DL E&C has been in charge of the basic design of this project since December 2019. Basic design is the stage of drawing a sketch of a plant, and it is the process of setting the basis for design and quotations. Previously, this kind of work had been monopolized by major European construction companies. DL E&C was awarded the project in recognition of its capabilities demonstrated by its basic design.
