The Hana Bank "Pal" card.

Hana Bank China Company Limited, which is a merged body of Chinese Hana Bank and Foreign Exchange Bank, showed its first product on Jan. 9 after the merger.

“Hana Pal Card,” which is targeted for Chinese customers visiting South Korea, provides various special benefits when using the card at Korean duty-free shops and returns a commission at a maximum of 100 percent in the form of accumulated money according to the amount spent by the card.

As Chinese people like the number eight, pronounced “pal,” Hana Bank used the Chinese character for “pal” (發) in the card name, which has a similar pronunciation to number eight in Chinese. To attract customer interest, Chinese Hana Bank made a limited edition of 8,888 cards in which the Chinese letter 發 was gold-plated.

Hana 168 Installment Savings was also launched on the same day, which has one to five years of maturity.
