'Virtual Ride' and 'Media Chair'

An LG Display official demonstrates Virtual Ride, a product that combines large OLED screens and workout equipment.

LG Display will unveil new solutions for daily lives based on bending organic light emitting diode (OLED) displays at the world’s largest IT and home electronics show to be held early next year.

LG Display announced on Dec. 23 that it will unveil Virtual Ride and Media Chair, which are flexible OLED solutions, at CES 2022, which will kick off in Las Vegas on Jan. 5, 2022 (local time).

Virtual Ride is a product that combines large OLED screens and exercise equipment. The product consists of a set of three 55-inch OLED panels, which are placed in an inverted L shape from the floor to the ceiling. The entire screen is curved to suit a user’s viewing angle, so the user can feel as if he or she is walking outside -- in the field or on the street.

The radius of the curvature of the area from the front of the screen to the ceiling is 500R, the lowest among existing large panels, which can make the display well curved to suit with various product types beyond the limitations of other displays. The lower the radius is, the more the display can be bent.

Media Chair for a personal rest area

Media Chair is designed to maximize a user’s immersion. It is a personal resting place that combines a 55-inch curved OLED display and a reclining sofa. The curved screen (1500R) is optimized for viewing angles and provides three-dimensional sounds with a cinematic sound OLED (CSO) function that makes sound from the screen itself without a separate speaker.

In addition, vertically long content and images can be better viewed when using its pivot function that can rotate the screen 90 degrees. A touch panel on the armrest of the sofa boosts users’ operational convenience.
