'The Bar World of Tomorrow'

Pernod Ricard Korea will offer a professional training for bartenders and bar owners in January.

Pernod Ricard Korea, the Korean unit of the global wine and spirits company Pernod Ricard, is conducting a professional training entitled “The Bar World of Tomorrow.”

Starting from January, the training will be offered free of charge to bartenders and bar owners in Korea seeking to build a sustainable bar culture. Since it is the first training of its kind aimed at establishing an eco-friendly bar culture in Korea, it is attracting attention from across the industry and especially bartenders.

The training will be conducted three sessions per month and is open first to bartenders and bar owners aged 19 or above who operate a bar in Seoul. Participants will be given training on sustainable activities connected to bar operation and have a chance to learn ways to conserve resources and reduce wastes. Furthermore, they will visit the ‘Jangsaeng Bar’ which is well known for its eco-friendly processes, and learn related know-how directly from owner Seo Jung-hyun.

CEO Frantz Hotton of Pernod Ricard Korea noted, “There is a new generation of consumers as well as customers (bartenders or bar owners) who has a greater interest in the environment than any other before, and they set sustainability as a strategy for the future in all industries.” He described the purpose of the training by saying, “By launching the Bar World of Tomorrow in Korea, we wish to share our group’s know-how and create a forum where we, with our customers, can think about ways to establish a sustainable bartending culture together with the service and hospitality industries.”

The training will be held every Tuesday in January (Jan. 4, 11 and 18). Applications can be made starting on Dec. 17 and details are available on the company homepage. The training schedule and the number of participants can be adjusted depending on the quarantine situation.

Meanwhile, Pernod Ricard Group has set its 2030 Sustainability & Responsibility roadmap, which is being implemented in all its subsidiaries around the world as part of its efforts to fulfill its commitment to environmental protection and sustainable management in all its business areas.
