To Release Phones Resembling Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 3
Oppo is planning to unveil its first foldable smartphone Find N on Dec. 15. The device is predicted to adopt inward folding and a cover display.
It is said that the phone will look very similar to the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 3. “In the past, most Chinese foldable smartphone manufacturers employed outward folding unlike Samsung Electronics,” said an industry insider, adding, “These days, however, they are imitating Samsung Electronics.”
Huawei, in the meantime, unveils its clamshell foldable phone Mate V on Dec. 23. Its folding method is the same as that of the Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 3 and the two are likely to be very similar in design.
Chinese manufacturers are likely to increasingly imitate Samsung Electronics in the foldable smartphone market. At the same time, the former’s foldable smartphones are likely to be much cheaper and their shares are likely to go up fast in emerging markets in particular.
The manufacturers are improving their technologies, too. The new phone of Oppo is expected to come with few middle wrinkles and that of Huawei is said to be more improved in heat handling than the Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 3.
