Chinese suppliers in the automotive display industry are accelerating their growth. For example, BOE, which started its automotive display production in 2012, came in sixth with a global market share of 7.6 percent in 2019 and boosted the figure to 11.4 percent last year. In addition, Tianma’s global market share for last year and this year is 12.7 percent and 10.7 percent, respectively.

China’s rapid growth in the industry has to do with the size of its car market. Last year, the global automobile production volume was 77,718,557 units and China accounted for 32.45 percent of the total as the biggest market.

Chinese automotive display manufacturers’ main products are LCD panels. On the other hand, in the automotive OLED display segment, LG Display’s and Samsung Display’s current market shares are 91.9 percent and 8.1 percent, respectively.
