1.8 Trillion Energy Deal

Doosan Heavy Industries & Construction announced on Dec. 26 that it signed a coal-fired power plant construction contract in Vietnam with the Korea Electric Power Corporation (KEPCO) and Marubeni. The contract amount is approximately 1.8 trillion won (US$1.6 billion).

The Nghi Son II Power Plant the company will build in Thanh Hoa has a power generation capacity of 1,330 MW and is scheduled to be completed in July 2019.

Doosan Heavy Industries & Construction is going to be in charge of the entire process, ranging from design and equipment supply and installation to test operations. Previously the company had won a contract for the Bintan Coal-fired Power Plant, worth 1.6 trillion won (US$1.5 billion), late last year.

The power generation market of Vietnam is expected to grow at a fast pace to reach 35 GW or 40 trillion won (US$36 billion) in size in 2017.
