Sharing Views on Future Technologies

Samsung Electronics vice chairman Lee Jae-yong met with Google CEO Sundar Pichai on Nov. 22 (U.S. local time) and discussed cooperation in new technologies, including system semiconductors, virtual reality, augmented reality and autonomous driving.

Google is planning to use an application processor (AP) of its own development for its smartphone Pixel, and Samsung Electronics is expected to manufacture the AP.

Prior to his visit to the Google headquarters, Lee visited Silicon Valley on Nov. 21 to check Samsung’s advanced research activities. Silicon Valley is home to Samsung Research America, which plays a critical role in developing next generation software, user experiences, and services for Samsung Electronics. Lee checked the current status of the development of next-generation core technologies such as AI and 6G and boosted researchers’ morale.

Lee has also visited Microsoft and Amazon. He shared strategies on AI, cloud computing, and mobile communications with high-ranking officials of MS and Amazon and discussed expanding cooperation in the future.
