The Incheon Asian Games Organizing Committee and the Olympic Council of Asia are working together to promote the 2014 Incheon Asian Game

The FUN-RUN event jointly hosted by the Olympic Council of Asia (OCA) and the Incheon Asian Games Organizing Committee (IAGOC) was held at the Incheon’s Songdo Sunrise Park on April 12 to promote the 2014 Incheon Asian Games.

The FUN-RUN is OCA’s regularly planned event that will be held in 9 countries to promote the Incheon Asian Games through media exposure by having students and Asian Games officials jog or run together in a free atmosphere. On this day, in addition to some 500 people including Incheon Haesong High School students and citizens, IAGOC president Lee Yun-taek, OCA Mediation Committee members, national marathoner Lee Bong-ju and key officials attended the event wishing for a successful holding of the 2014 Incheon Asian Games.

In the afternoon, the 2nd OCA Mediation Committee was held at Songdo Convensia in Incheon. President of Japan Olympic Committee (JOC) Takeda Tsunekazu, honorary life president of the Olympic Council of Asia (OCA) Jizhong Wei, chairwoman of the Athletes Committee (ATC) at OCA Yuko Arakida, chairman of the Medical Committee at OCA Jegathesan Manikavasagam and so forth participated as the meditation committee members.

The role of OCA Mediation Committee is to monitor the preparation and to coordinate and support all the process from the planning phase to execution phase together with the IAGOC. The 3rd OCA Mediation Committee is scheduled to be held in October this year at Incheon.

In the 2nd OCA Mediation Committee meeting, there were presentations on the progress of 14 agenda including game programs, marketing, selection of the host TV broadcasting company, opening and closing ceremony, cultural events, PR, etc,. A broad exchange of opinions was also made amid discussions for a successful hosting of the upcoming Asian games.

Former Busan AGOC’s Kwon Kyung-sang has Been Appointed as Secretary-General of the Incheon Asian Games (AG)

2002 Busan Asian Games Organizing Committee’s former general manager Kwon Kyung-sang (54) has been appointed as the second Secretary-General of 2014 Incheon Asian Games Organizing Committee (IAGOC).

On May 20, president of IAGOC Lee Yun-taek said at the inaugural ceremony of the newly appointed Secretary-General Kwon Kyung-sang, “Please manifest your skills accumulated up to now as we are entering the full-fledged preparation phase passing the foundation building stage.” The Secretary-General actively engaged in the Busan Asian Games for around a year from 2000 as the executive director during his tenure in the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism. He also has experiences of negotiating with the Olympic Council of Asia.

As one of the major goals of the Incheon Asian Games is to attract tourists both at home and abroad as many as possible, people have a great expectation in the expertise and extensive administrative knowhow of Secretary-General Kwon who has a doctoral degree in tourism.

At his inaugural speech, Kwon said, “I am delighted to have an opportunity to work for the Incheon Asian Games followed by the Busan Asian Games,” adding, “Based on my experience, I will try my best to lead the national event to be successful.”
