Korean Air announced on Sept. 28 that it has completed a transfer of its IT systems to Amazon Web Services (AWS). Korean air announced the transfer plan in November 2018.

Korean Air is the first large airline to complete a transfer of its enterprise IT system to a cloud computing service.

Korean Air has pushed forward with the transfer to actively and flexibly respond to changes in market conditions and demand.

Korean Air, along with LG CNS, a Korean partner of AWS, and AWS, gradually moved various IT systems for data, networks and security systems from an in-house data center to AWS’ cloud computing center.

The airline plans to innovate its management process, strengthen passenger services, boost convenience in using the reservation and ticketing systems, and enhance weather forecast accuracy based on Amazon Web Services’ cloud computing functions such as data analyses and machine learning. Korean Air will improve demand prediction accuracy and introduce personalized services by making good use of cloud computing technology.
