Navigation System Meets with Augmented Reality

Thinkware unveiled its navigation system, the Inavi X1 in which augmented reality (AR) is integrated with a cutting-edge driver system, during its launch event in Seoul on Dec. 1.

Thinkware's AR solution, Extreme AR, provides directions to drivers in real time by combining road images and information about routes. It informs drivers to change lanes in advance by predicting the next route with AR images. Therefore, drivers can find their way to their destination without being lost, and without taking their eyes off the road.

The Advanced Driver Assistance System (ADAS) used in the next-gen navigation system is an intelligent system that considers driver convenience and safety. It has a lane departure warning system (LDWS) that warns the driver when the vehicle begins to move out of its lane, a system that notifies drivers of movement of the car ahead, and a system that informs drivers of a change in traffic lights.

Unlike existing graphic maps, the high precision “Extreme Air 3D” describes buildings as they are through 3D pictures, providing detailed directions to the destination. In particular, the “Drone View” provided by the Extreme Air 3D gives a clear understanding of routes as if they were pictured by drones.
