Sonrai Memory Files Complaint with USITC

The U.S. International Trade Commission in Washington, D.C.

The United States International Trade Commission (USITC) has initiated a patent infringement investigation related to Samsung Electronics and LG Electronics at the request of Sonrai Memory.

The plaintiffs including the non-practicing entity are claiming that Samsung Electronics and LG Electronics infringed upon their patents related to semiconductor driving and registered in the United States. The defendants also include Amazon, Dell, Lenovo and Motorola. The NPE lodged the complaint on Aug. 2 in accordance with Section 337 of the Tariff Act of 1930.

Sonrai Memory filed patent infringement lawsuits with the United States District Court for the Western District of Texas against Samsung Electronics and LG Electronics in late July, too. Items in question in these lawsuits are smartphones and laptops such as Samsung Galaxy S20, LG V40 and LG gram 15.

In May this year, another investigation targeting Samsung Electronics and LG Electronics and related to the same section of the same act was initiated by the USITC at the request of Roku. According to the streaming service provider, its patent is being used without consent for remote controllers for Samsung and LG smart TVs.
