For Cooperation in MMA Recycling Projects

LG Chem's plant in Ochang, North Chungcheong Province

LG Chem announced on Aug. 30 that it has signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) with Veolia R&E, Korea's largest producer of recycled methyl methacrylate (MMA), to commercialize low-carbon transparent ABS based on chemically recycled MMA.

Veolia R&E is a subsidiary of the French company Veolia Group, the world's largest environmental service company specializing in water treatment, waste and energy. In 2010, it became the first company in the world to recycle waste artificial marble into MMA.

Under this agreement, LG Chem will promote the commercialization of low-carbon transparent ABS based on chemically recycled MMA, while actively cooperating with Veolia R&C to improve its production process and the quality of recycled MMA.

The two companies will discuss ways to cooperate in MMA recycling projects going forward.
