More than 1,900 Channels Available in 25 Countries

LG Channel Service on an LG OLED TV

LG Electronics announced on Aug. 10 that it will significantly expand the LG Channel Service, a free content platform on its smart TVs powered by webOS.

The company has decided to additionally launch the LG Channel Service in 11 European countries, including the Netherlands and Switzerland, within this year. Currently, the LG Channel Service provides more than 1,600 channels in 14 countries. The figure will be expanded to more than 1,900 channels in 25 countries. Korean customers can watch 144 free channels through the LG Channel Service.

LG Electronics has recently added K-content channels to the LG Channel Service in four countries -- the United States, Canada, Brazil and Mexico -- through collaboration with its content partner New ID. The added channels include YG TV, a real-time live TV channel for YG Entertainment, and Korean film channel New K-Movies. The number of countries where K-content channels are available increased from four European countries to eight.

In Europe and Latin America, the LG Channel Service will add channels such as Pluto TV, Rakuten TV and jazz electro music streaming service Qwest TV.

In addition, LG Electronics is planning to update its software within this year so that people can enjoy the LG Channel Service on webOS platform-powered TV models from other companies.

The LG Channel Service allows users to watch various channels free of charge without a separate set-top box on webOS TV with internet connections. The service has been loaded into all LG webOS TV models since 2015.
