Korean Dishwashers Expanding Presence in U.S. Market
LG Electronics' dishwasher LG QuadWash (model name: LG LDF5545ST) has been selected as the best product of the year by Reviewed Dot Com, a leading U.S. IT media outlet.
Reviewed Dot Com praised LG's QuadWash on July 29 (local time), saying that the product has no weakness. The media outlet selected it as the best dishwasher of the year. Reviewed Dot Com is an online product development media outlet run by USA Today, the largest daily newspaper in the United States.
Reviewed Dot Com mentioned the following as the virtues of LG's QuadWash: excellent cleaning power, a reasonable price and low noises. It said the price of LG's QuadWash Dishwasher is only half that of Bosch, even though it competes neck and neck with Bosch's highest grade model in performance.
LG's QuadWash makes three-dimensional waves from tornado-force cleaning wings and various discharge ports to clean and quickly wash dishes. In particular, the X-shaped tornado-force washing wings on the bottom of the dishwasher rotate clockwise to make the generated high-pressure waves remove oil remains in dishes.
Another characteristic of this product is that it has an inverter DD motor, a key component of household appliances. LG Electronics minimized the size of the DD motor and reduced noises. So the dishwasher can run fairly quiet. Users can adjust the DD motor’s rpm. They can vary the cleaning speed of the upper and lower parts of the dishwasher by pressing down the standard course and selecting the dual zone from the options.
The United States is emerging as a key market for Korean dishwasher makers. Korean companies posted US$149.8 million in exports to the U.S. in 2020, up 34 percent from a year ago. In the United States, Korean home dishwashers stand second to China, and their market share rose to 27 percent in 2020 from 23 percent in 2016. During the same period, their gap with Thai dishwashers, which are ranked third, widened from 6.1 percentage points to 13.0 percentage points.
