To Set up Production Facilities in Dangjin and Kuwait

Optical cables from Taihan Cable & Solution

Taihan Cable & Solution, which was acquired by Hoban Group in March this year, has decided to reenter the optical cable business in nine years.

The company announced on Aug. 4 that it has decided to build optical cable production facilities at its telecommunication cable plant in Dangjin in South Chungcheong Province. It is planning to place orders for facilities within August and start volume production of optical cables in the first half of next year.

Taihan Kuwait, an optical cable production company established in Kuwait, is also speeding up the construction of a production plant. The company has already secured a plant site in Kuwait City and plans to break ground and order facilities within the third quarter. It is aiming to launch pilot products in the first half of next year.

Taihan Cable & Solution plans to make step-by-step investment in Dangjin Plant, Taihan Kuwait, and M-Tec, a subsidiary in South Africa, to produce about 5 million fiber kilometers of cables in total.

Nine years have passed since Taihan Cable & Solution withdrew from the optical cable business in 2012 by selling off its stake in its optical cable subsidiary.
