Overseas Sales Volume Jump 32.5% YoY in June

Korea's automobile exports in June surged 32.5 percent from a year earlier.

Last month, Hyundai Motor Group, GM Korea, Renault Samsung Motors and SsangYong Motor sold 134,761 and 522,786 cars at home and abroad, respectively. The domestic sales volume showed a year-on-year decline of 23.6 percent, whereas the overseas sales volume rose 32.5 percent from a year earlier.

Hyundai Motor Company sold 68,407 cars at home and 286,002 cars abroad last month. The volumes fell 18.3 percent and rose 26.5 percent year on year, respectively. Compared to the preceding month, the respective figures rose 10.2 percent and 8.5 percent.

In the first half of this year, the company sold 386,095 in the domestic market and 1,642,879 in overseas markets. The combined volume, 2,028,974, increased 26.2 percent year on year. Kia’s domestic and overseas sales volumes were 49,280 (down 17.9 percent year on year) and 204,312 (up 35.4 percent year on year) last month, respectively. Last month, the total sales volume of the group, that is, Hyundai Motor Company and Kia was 608,001 (up 16.8 percent year on year) and the group’s overseas sales jumped 30.1 percent from a year ago.

Last month, GM Korea’s exports increased 27.1 percent year on year to 21,136 and those of Renault Samsung increased 1,345.3 percent year on year to 8,556, including 7,679 XM3s. SsangYong Motor's exports increased 539.1 percent from a year earlier, led by the Rexton Sports.

In the domestic market, the three companies’ sales volumes showed a year-on-year decrease of 38.6 percent, 59 percent and 41.3 percent, respectively.
