LG Electronics has released the industry’s first 83-inch OELD TV model to cement its position in the global super-large premium TV market.

The company said on June 20 that the 83-inch OLED TV model will hit the global TV market, starting with Korea and the United States in June. Its diagonal length is approximately 211 centimeters. It is also the largest 4K OLED TV. LG Electronics’ OLED TV lineup includes 48-, 55-, 65-, 77-, 83- and 88-inch models.

The number of LG’s 70-inch or bigger OLED TV models in the Korean market increased from seven in 2020 to 11 in 2021. LG Electronics is planning to actively focus on demand for high-definition and large-screen premium TVs by promoting super-large models. Recently, demand for super-large TVs are on the uptick as people want to enjoy high-definition content such as online video services (OTT) and games on TV. The global OLED TV market is also expected to double this year, with super-large TVs driving the growth.

Earlier, LG’s 83-inch OLED TV won two gold medals at CES 2021, the world's largest IT exhibition, by receiving the Innovation Awards in gaming and video display. The U.S. Consumer Technology Association (CTA) said the product is loaded with top-notch features such as a fast input delay and a 4K resolution high frame rate (HFR) which can offer users big fun when they play games or watch sports events.

This product will retail at 10.9 million won in Korea.
