Samsung Electronics' foldable smartphone Galaxy Z Fold 3 is expected to come out in early August, a month earlier than its original launch date.

Max Weinbach, a famous IT tipster, recently predicted on Twitter that Samsung Electronics' new foldable phone unpack event will be held on Aug. 3. Earlier, another IT tipster, Jon Prosser said the Galaxy Z Fold 3 and the Galaxy Z Flip 3 would be officially released on Aug. 27.

According to them, the Galaxy Z Fold 3 is expected to be unwrapped at its Unpack event in early August and will be officially released at the end of August. Samsung Electronics introduced its new foldable phone (the Galaxy Z Fold 2 and the Galaxy Z Flip 5G) at an unpack event on Sept. 1, 2020. This year, the new products will be launched about a month earlier. The Galaxy Z Fold 3 will replace the Galaxy Note as Samsung’s flagship smartphone for the second half of 2021.

Samsung made the decision to release the new models earlier as the Korean smartphone giant has not released a new Galaxy Note model this year and wants to keep in check Apple's new iPhone model and Chinese foldable phones, which are to come out in the second half, analysts say.

Some predict that Samsung Electronics will drastically lower the price of the new Galaxy Z Fold to popularize foldable phones. According to foreign media outlets, the store price of the Galaxy Z Fold 3 and Galaxy Z Flip 3 will be up to 20 percent cheaper than their predecessors. This means that the price of Galaxy Z Fold 3 will fall by US$400 from that of its predecessor.
