Samsung Electronics is expected to soon release a foldable tablet following foldable smartphones.

The company has recently registered the “Galaxy Z Fold” trademark with the European Union Intellectual Property Office (EUIPO). It specified the Galaxy Z Fold as a trademark for smartphones and tablet computers. This means that Samsung Electronics has included tablets in the Z Series following foldable smartphones such as the Galaxy Z Fold and the Z Flip.

In particular, it is notable that Samsung's foldable tablet will be folded twice. According to Gizmochina, a popular blog featuring products in China, the Galaxy Z Fold Tab will be a double folding device whose screen is folded twice in a Z shape. When folded, it becomes as large as a 6-inch smartphone. When unfolded, it becomes a 10-inch device. The foldable tablet’s portability will be much enhanced as it can be expanded three-fold.

It will be compatible with the S Pen just like the Galaxy Z Fold 3. The Galaxy Z Fold 3 uses stronger ultra-thin tempered glass (UTG) for the S Pen, and the same material will go into the foldable tablet.

Gizmochina predicted on April 19 that Samsung Electronics will release the foldable tablet in the first quarter of next year and the product will be named the Galaxy Z Fold Tab. “The Galaxy Z Fold Tab is currently in the development stage, and its design has not been finalized yet," Gizmochina said. "Samsung officials are discussing whether to release a teaser video about the foldable tablet at the Galaxy Z Fold 3 and Galaxy Z Flip 3 Unpack Event in August."
