Unhackable Communication Services

SK Telecom has made quantum key distribution technology available to companies that do not have dedicated networks.

SK Telecom has succeeded in applying quantum key distribution (QKD) technology to IP equipment, allowing companies that do not have dedicated networks to use the secure communication method based on quantum cryptography.

SK Telecom announced on April 6 that it has successfully applied QKD technology to IP equipment and has completed the development of quantum virtual private network (VPN) technology.

SK Telecom developed the technology with IDQ, a subsidiary based in Switzerland specializing in quantum cryptography.

A virtual private network (VPN) is an enterprise communications service that can provide independent network services to individual B2B customers.

The development of a quantum key distributor-based quantum VPN will allow companies without dedicated networks to use telecommunication security services using quantum encryption, SK Telecom explained. QKD technology uses cryptographic keys that cannot be hacked. It is based on the fact it is impossible to copy data encoded in a quantum state.

Quantum VPN technology is a solution that can be applied flexibly to various B2B network structures and services and features maximized security.
