Price Investigation

As there have been strong complaints from consumers regarding the repair costs of imported automobiles, the government, together with consumer organizations, will investigate the prices of imported automobile components.

Noh Dae-lae, chairman of the Fair Trade Commission, announced on August 31, “We plan to investigate the prices of imported automobile components from September to October.”

Chairman Noh said at a recent press conference, “Since the repair costs of imported automobiles are too high and unclear, complaints from consumers are increasing. We will investigate the relevant prices, together with consumer organizations.” He also pointed out that even though the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport requires prices of all automobile components sold in Korea to be disclosed, it is hard for consumers to find or determine the authenticity of such information.

Chairman Noh added, “The government cannot control the prices of automobile components, but we will let consumers decide.”
