File Patent Infringement Complaint with ITC

Ericsson has filed a patent infringement complaint against Samsung Electronics with the United States International Trade Commission.

Ericsson is claiming that Samsung Electronics infringed upon its patents. The United States International Trade Commission is about to initiate an investigation.

The products in question are 4G and 5G networks for wireless connection to communications equipment such as antenna, radio and base station. Ericsson filed the same suit in Texas in January this year. The company is demanding an import and sales ban in the U.S. market. Samsung Electronics has provided thousands of 5G base stations for the past two years for its clients including Verizon, T-Mobile and AT&T.

Ericsson filed a patent lawsuit against Samsung Electronics back in 2012 as well. At that time, Samsung Electronics had to pay US$650 million after a couple of years of litigation. At present, Samsung Electronics already filed a counter lawsuit.
