Samsung to Pay Recompense for Patent Infringement

Samsung Electronics has reached an agreement with Neodron, which filed a patent infringement suit against it.

The United States International Trade Commission terminated its patent infringement investigation (case number: 337-TA-1162) related to Samsung Electronics and Neodron on Feb. 9.

The European patent troll sued Samsung Electronics HQ and Samsung Electronics America in May 2019, claiming that they violated Section 337 of the Tariff Act of 1930. According to industry sources, Samsung Electronics’ recompense related to their mutual agreement will be sizeable.

In May 2019, Neodron sued multiple global companies, including Amazon and Microsoft as well as Samsung Electronics. According to Section 337 of the Tariff Act of 1930, an import or sales ban can be ordered in the event of patent rights infringement. Neodron was established in Dublin, Ireland in December 2018.
