Hyosung Group promoted president Cho Hyun-sang to vice chairman on Feb. 4.

The promotion came about four years after Cho was promoted to president in January 2017.

Having worked as a consultant at the Japanese subsidiary of Bain & Company, Cho took part in a restructuring of Hyosung Group when Korea was bailed out of a financial meltdown following the Asian financial crisis in the late 1990s. Since then, he has taken various management and business posts for more than 20 years. He served as the group’s chief strategic planning officer and head of the group’s industrial materials PG. He helped his father and honorary group chairman Cho Seok-rae and elder brother and group chairman Cho Hyun-joon grow Hyosung into a global enterprise.

In particular, he contributed greatly to Hyosung's continued growth by making it the world’s No. 1 player in the industrial and automotive high value-added materials sector. He was selected as one of the "Young Global Leaders" by the World Economic Forum in 2007 and was included among the next-generation leaders chosen by government agencies of Korea, China and Japan.

Cho has been serving as the head of the Hyosung Volunteer Group for Social Contribution since 2015, and visits a social welfare center for children with developmental disability every year.
