LG Electronics is planning to strengthen its leadership in the monitor market with the release of a new curved monitor.

LG announced on August 18 that it will roll out its newest IPS 21:9 ratio curved ultra-wide monitor (model 34UC97) in the Korean market on August 19.

As an upgraded version of the 34 in. 21:9 monitor showcased early this year, the new model has a curved design. The screen with a WQHD (3,440 x 1,440 pixels) resolution is suitable for use by picture or video experts, since the monitor is 2.38 times larger than existing full-HD displays.

Equipped with a stereo maxx audio system, the new monitor can convey sound realistically, which is helpful when watching movies.

The new model can also connect to other devices simultaneously, since it has HDMI, VGA, and Thunderbolt 2 display ports. For example, it is possible to connect two different devices at the same time by combining a laptop and a PC, or a PC and an AV device.

LG's 34 in. curved monitor can be purchased for 145,000 won (US$142.35) at LG Bestshops nationwide starting on August 19. This product is going to be displayed at IFA 2014, which is scheduled to be held in Berlin on September 5, and be introduced to the global market starting from North America and Europe at the end of September.
