Sharing Business Strategy for Chinese Market

Doosan Bobcat's E17Z excavator

Doosan Bobcat announced on Jan. 29 that it held a virtual dealer conference at its Chinese subsidiary in Suzhou with the participation of 400 small construction equipment dealers from all over China on Jan. 28.

At the event, Doosan Bobcat shared its strategy to penetrate the Chinese market, which is based on securing competitiveness through product lineup expansion and increased R&D capabilities.

China's small construction machinery market is the world's second-largest after that of the United States, with small excavators accounting for an absolutely high portion. Doosan Bobcat is focusing on under-3-ton excavators. The size of the market was 8,778 units in 2020. The market has enjoyed an average annual growth rate of about 64 percent thanks to urbanization and a spike in labor costs since 2016.

Since 2020, Doosan Bobcat has been producing two models, the E17Z and E20Z, both under two tons, at its Suzhou plant in China.
