The Most Popular Smartphones

iPhone SE

Market research firm Counterpoint Research released a list of the most popular smartphones on Nov. 18. The list covers market shares as of the end of July this year in the eight countries including the United States, China and India.

In China, the world’s largest smartphone market, Apple iPhone 11 was the most popular smartphone with a market share of 5 percent, followed by Huawei Nova 7 SE, Huawei Nova 7 5G, Huawei P40 and Oppo A8. In India, the second-largest, Xiaomi Redmi 8A Dual accounted for 7 percent, followed by Vivo Y9li, Xiaomi Redmi 8, Samsung Galaxy M11 and Samsung Galaxy A21S.

In the United States, iPhone 11 accounted for 15 percent, followed by iPhone SE (8 percent), iPhone 11 Pro Max (8 percent), Samsung Galaxy A10e (5 percent) and iPhone XR. In the United Kingdom, iPhone SE and iPhone 11 recorded a combined market share of 25 percent, followed by Samsung Galaxy A10 (4 percent), Galaxy S20 Plus 5G and Galaxy A21.

In France, iPhone SE (11 percent) was followed by iPhone 11 (9 percent), Samsung Galaxy S20 Plus 5G (5 percent), Samsung Galaxy A51 and iPhone 11 Pro Max. In Germany, iPhone SE and iPhone 11 were followed by Galaxy A51, A71 and A21.

In Japan, iPhone SE’s market share amounted to 25 percent and it was followed by iPhone 11, Sony Xperia 10II, Sharp Aquous Sense 3 and iPhone 7. In South Korea, Samsung Galaxy A31 LTE showed a market share of 13 percent, followed by iPhone SE (7 percent), Galaxy S20 5G, Galaxy S20 Plus 5G and iPhone 11.
