Increasing number of people choosing aesthetic medical procedures over plastic surgery

The beauty care market can be mainly divided into the surgical segment (breast implants, liposuction, eye/nose jobs, etc) and the non-surgical segment (toxin, filler, face-lifting, etc). These days, non-surgical procedures, which are non-invasive, are gaining ground, as: 1) surgery scars are difficult to completely remove; 2) post-surgery recovery takes time; and 3) surgeries can be a scary prospect for certain people. For these reasons, a rising number of people are choosing aesthetic medical procedures over plastic surgery.

Energy-based aesthetic devices catching on

Generally speaking, plastic surgery can have a more dramatic effect that aesthetic procedures. But, thanks to technological developments, aesthetic medical devices that can generate longer-lasting and more dramatic effects have hit the market. Against this backdrop, non-invasive and minimally invasive procedures, which are free from many of the shortcomings of plastic surgery (such as scaring and long recovery times), are gaining ground at a rapid clip. Among aesthetic procedures, fillers and toxins are the most popular, but recently, procedures using energy-based aesthetic devices (featuring laser, HIFU, and radio frequency technologies) that are optimized for skin anti-aging and lifting have been catching on.
