Releases The Wall in Japan Through a Local Partner

Samsung Electronics' commercial display “The Wall” has penetrated the tough B2B market in Japan.

NGC, Japan's largest display solution company, released two new products (model names IW012J and IW016J) from Samsung Electronics on Sept. 15, starting its sale pitch to secure local customers. Founded in 1985, NGC provides various video equipment and services to NHK and TV Asahi.

"The Wall is the only display that realizes twice as much color reproducibility as conventional LED displays and expresses perfect black color," NGC said. "We are receiving increasing calls about the product from corporate customers."

Samsung Electronics has received much attention from local companies with its “super gap” product. The Wall uses ultra-small light emitting diode (LED) devices of micrometers and is considered to have surpassed the limits of existing display products in terms of the screen size, screen ratio, resolution, and bezel.

Since technical skills of Japanese display manufacturers such as NEC and Sharp remain at the level of LCD signage, it is practically impossible for them to implement modular displays based on micro LEDs. When The Wall was selected as the “Display of the Year” by the Society for Information Display (SID) in 2019, Japanese display companies turned their eyes to Samsung Electronics' display technology.

Samsung Electronics' market share in the global LCD signage market stood at 34.2 percent in the first half of this year, ranking first for 12 consecutive years, market researcher Omdia says.
